Bring on the Merry: Gift Ideas

I have been missing from here for quite a while and it has been due to life changing circumstances friends.  I want to thank you for sticking around. Life is certainly different, but I trust that along this difficult road my family & I are not alone. Getting back on track here will be a process as I try to figure out how to manage it. I know many of you have had difficulties in the last couple of years too.  It seems that everyone I meet now has gone through or is going through something difficult.

I find myself writing in journals and bible study books instead of online. It's easier and it feels rewarding somehow. I don't have to log on to anything, I can open my book and begin writing.

It's a healthier way to work with your talents, ideas and creativity. This book in particular helps bring in some peace of mind especially during the coming season.

The season is almost upon us friends and while we are preparing for Thanksgiving which will be very soon, I think one of the best places to shop is Dayspring online.

One of the items available is this lovely journal. I think it will make either a great gift for someone or for yourself.  During this time, I think it is greatly needed to bring on the joy and cheer. Candace Bure is the author and if you are familiar with her then you know that you will get something good. Shop the Exclusive Candace Cameron Bure Collection now!

There are daily devotionals in this book that point to life changing words from the Bible and encourage to focus on living in a relationship with Jesus- especially during this busy time of the year.  I love that there are interactive activities that guide me in reflecting more deeply on my readings.

This book has lovely stories, poems, and song lyrics to keep the season alive as you read through.

I find that the best time for me is in the morning in order to keep all the goodness of it within and share with others like I am doing with you now.

There are so many lovely items on Dayspring to get us ready for the season, gifts for friends, family and neighbors. I have chosen this lovely set of greeting cards to share with friends as a reminder of what Christmas is really about.

This illustration is so simple yet so lovely. There are many to choose from though and you can't go wrong. There are also sweet gifts to share like the honey pot below.  It is simply adorable.

I love this honey jar, if you are interested in getting one just visit DaySpring Cards Inc before they are gone. This is definitely one to have. Lastly, I wanted to share my new mug with you, I will get some of these items as gifts for friends as well because they are beautiful.
The mug has a message on both sides, and I love that it is not heavy, it is well made and comfortable to hold. My morning coffee is extra special with the reminder written on it.

These make lovely gifts.  Visit Dayspring!

Christmas Home 2014

Christmas 2014
Welcome to my Christmas Home tour.  As you view the images you will notice that I
have kept it pretty simple around here.
It has been dark and gloomy around these parts and it'll be that way until Christmas, so I was
not able to capture as much as I would have liked to share with you, but at least I was able
to get these photos.
I have been baking lots of cookies this year to share with friends & family, so when
you walk in our home, the fragrance of fresh baked chocolate chips cookies is what you are
met with.  Upon entering the home you will also encounter our Advent Wreath on our dining
table.  As you look into the living room, the first thing you will notice is the Christmas tree.
I used what I had on hand for the tree decorations and my previous handmade ornaments.

Below is this year's Jesse Tree.  I found some cool Jesse tree ornaments online, so I didn't
have to make my own as I did last year.  My son loves these.

I used my pom pom garland from last year, but I added more pom poms and made the
cord thicker to decorate the mantel.  I love it!  The stockings are also handmade and you can find the
tutorial here.  For more tutorials on items featured here, visit the Project Gallery.

Our Christmas is not over yet, as we embraced the arrival of our Savior in our hearts and homes, we await the visitation of The Three Wise Men whom brought gold, myrrh and frankincense to Baby Jesus.  They sought  Him to pay Him homage, the King of Kings.  Happy Epiphany!

Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas (2)

Hello friends, today I have gathered a few homemade gift ideas for the Holidays ahead. If you have not viewed my previous ideas, drop by this post to gather more inspirations for gift giving.  Nothing beats a gift more than a homemade one.  Think of treats and dishes too!

1. My first suggestion is a heartwarming gift bucket with goodies.  Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix with a bag of marshmallows and peppermint candy canes.
2. Homemade bath salts.
3. I love this one!  A homemade chalkboard planter with a delightful Holiday message. Add a beautiful small evergreen or rosemary plant to make it extra special.
4. This is perfect for this time of year when dry skin is a problem, Homemade Body Butter.
5. Another Holiday hit is these lovely Homemade Chalkboard Cups.  They are super easy to make & add anything inside and make it merry.
6. Framed print with verse, this is another hit for gifts.  Print out your artwork and frame it to give for the Holidays.

I hope that you enjoy these inspirational gift ideas. Do you have any of your own you'd like to share?  Link it up to the comment section and share it with us here.  If you prefer to buy homemade gifts instead, visit my little shop or other great handmade shops on Etsy.
Have a happy week!

Christmas Home 2012- Simple

DSC00727
Welcome to our Christmas home.
It’s all about enjoying our surroundings during this time of year.
My son and I are fighting the flu and it seems as if Mr.M may catch it as well,
so there’s a lot of coughing, sniffles,...
We just want to cozy up by the fireplace, drink our liquids and rest.
I kept my décor very simple this year, a tree and little reminders here and there.
Here is a collection of photos.

Wreath Makeover

wreath makeover
Hello friends.  Before I begin, I just want to share my deepest sympathy with the families
in Newton, Conn.  My heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones and
suffered through this whole ordeal.  Our prayers are with them.
DSC00730
Allow me to begin my post.
My traditional wreath was old and in very bad shape.  It had been in the attic throughout
the hot summer months, most of the decorations melted off and the rest were falling apart.

I decided to take my dated wreath and give it a face lift with some plastic
vintage ornaments and boy am I glad I did.  I love it!
I traded my traditional look for a whimsical one, bright and colorful.

I was inspired by the Pottery Barn wreath on the cover of their catalog,
but because I didn't have enough ornaments,
I just used what I had on hand to make it my own.
All I used was; the old wreath, floral wire, scissors to cut wire, & ornaments.

After removing all the old wreath's decor,
I simply wired the ornaments one at a time to a single branch on the wreath .
Twisted it around until it was secure, ornament after ornament, side by side.

Now I have a lovely whimsical bright wreath.
It looks so cheery and bright.
Is there an old wreath that needs some TLC in your attic?
I hope that you have a safe and happy week.
