Recovery and Magnets

glass magnets
This week has been tough.  Do you remember when I told you my little guy was sick on this "post"?
Guess who caught what he had?  Yep, yours truly.  I've been in bed for days, what an
awful thing to have and to think that my munchkin had this.
My poor little angel, thankfully he is well now.  I am slowly recovering.
Since I've been out of the loop for a while, I haven't gotten anything done.
I did manage to get an order out today.
I love receiving well packaged items don't' you?  My latest gift to myself came from this gal.
I love her packaging, it's like getting a gift from a friend.

When I send out my items,I make sure it is ready for gift giving.
Whether it's for the buyer or another recipient.
That's just me!

Now, graduation and Mother's Day are next month and I have only a few items left y'all.
These blue magnets are perfect for such an occasion.  The photos do no justice, none.
They are so beautiful in person.  I wish I could just reach out your screen and show them to you.
Stop by the shop and show your love.  Hope that you have a wonderful day!

My Random Weekend

Hey everyone!  It's been a while since I've written a random post.
I hope that you had a wonderful and fun St. Patrick's Day.
We had a beautiful, bright and warm weekend in these parts, perhaps a little too warm.
And although the weekend was gorgeous, I wasn't able to enjoy it much.
You see, I was feeling ill this weekend; drained, in pain and just...not myself.
I was feeling like this nest, pretty empty, sickly and unmotivated.

The hubs has been super sweet, comforting me and taking care of things around the house
while I tried to rest, but I just couldn't rest.  I didn't want to miss a thing with my two boys.
So while they had some fun, I finished my little can container to store my camera wires
 and fabric roses.

For St. Patrick's Day, I made my little family a quick and delicious meal,
since I wasn't feeling well, I decided to make something easy.
I made creamy pasta with carrots and beef tips in gravy.
The easy part was that the only thing I made from scratch, was the pasta sauce.
The meat was already cooked and it only needed to be defrosted.
I added the carrots to the gravy and beef.
It pays off when you cook in advance and freeze food for times like this.

Craft Easter Garden: Colleen Hammond
I am loving this lovely Easter Garden by Colleen Hammond.
What a great way to teach our children about the real meaning of Easter,
by planting a little garden using potting soil, a very small flower pot for the tomb,
shade grass seeds, and crosses made of twigs.
All you do is sprinkle the seeds and keep soil moist for about 7- 10 days.
Do this at least 12 days before Easter and watch your garden grow,

This is my new love!
I was visiting several Volkswagen sites and came across this beauty.
Oh, how I wish to have a little camper like this.
Can you picture this?
Candy apple red with a white roof,
interior little kitchenette, camping bed, comfy seats, cute drapery on the windows,
adorable crochet or knitted blankets lots of love and travel.
I have a VW Golf
which I love, but this little baby would add so many wonderful
family memories if we had one.
Many camping weekends, road trips and so much more.

How did you spend our weekend?

25 Things; Well not Quite

Today I'm linking up with Shauna from Perfectly Imperfect.
She just started a linky party called "25 Things".
The object of the linky is to write 25 random things either about your day or
just whatever is on your mind.  It looks like fun!  Here goes my randomness!

1.  At 1:30 AM yesterday, my cell phone began vibrating.
I had received a text message that read,
"Congratulations, you're a first time auntie".
I was so happy.

2. Today I was so humbled to have made it to the top 12 finalist at Whisper Wood Cottage
for a chance to win a magazine feature.  I was so surprised!
The other projects are beautiful, so I was honored to be part of that list.
Thank you Whisper Wood Cottage!

4. After missing school for a whole week due to fever and other ailments,
my son is back in class. Do you know what they sent home yesterday?
A letter stating that the Chicken Pox is going around!  Oh no!
Please don't get sick!  My poor baby has been through so much
already, he's just getting over being sick.

5. I've never had the chicken pox!

6. I am in love with my new homemade iced coffee!
Contains: Coffee, flavored cream, sugar and condensed milk, Yum!
Tip: Instead of ice cubes, use coffee cubes.  Freeze left over coffee!

7.   I'm currently working on my craft room/ office space.
My hubs built a desk out of pallets, wanna see it?
The photo on the top of the post shows a glimpse of the desk.
I'm thinking about painting it, not sure yet.

8. I wanted my walls to be somewhat grey, they are blue!
There's nothing wrong with blue,
but now I have to change my whole decor plans.
I'm not buying another can of paint.

9. I'm trying to figure out how to make a tabbed content navigator widget for this blog,
the less items on my sidebar, the better.

10. I'm baking chocolate chip cookies today!
I will make Valentine's Day treat bags for the kids to exchange at their
Valentine's Day party.  My son prefers toys only, go figure!
But I showed him the special chocolate that mommy is using for the cookies,
white chocolate with red swirls.  "Okay mommy, but also some toys".

11. I finally got my cork board done!  I wrapped my cork board with burlap to make it
look nicer, something similar to this...
via pinterest
12. I'm also working on another fun project for lamps!  I will be posting about that soon, so stay tuned!

13. This morning as I read scripture, this simple reading calmed my heart & soul;
" Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you
as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27 NIV

14. I want to start running with my hubs,
I want to transform this house to make it feel like "us".
I want to take a photography class.

15. I am lacking in blog time, I've been so busy with everything else,
that I have to literally squeeze blogging and reading other blogs.

16. I started carrying my makeup in a zip lock bag in my purse.
Yes weird, but now I can find it without having to empty my purse.
My sister will probably say, that's cheap and unstylish,
I know, but I can see through the bag, so it's easy to grab what I need,
it doesn't cost me anything, it keeps my purse clean,
no more spilled powder and it fits easily in my purse.

17. Even though white distilled vinegar works magic on grout, I want to try Grout Bully!

18.

19. My latest work.  I like these so much, I'm thinking about keeping them.

I know it's not 25, but that's all I have for now.
Thank you for reading my randomness!

It's My Birthday!

I'm Different, I'm Thankful, I'm Happy, I'm Loving...

Inspired from Little Miss Momma, but this is my own version.

I'm different because...
I never ask for help even when I need it.
I can't sleep with my hair down.
I can eat tortillas smothered in melted cheese and salsa as a meal.
I don't like warm pillows, so I turn my pillow over several times during the night.
I carry a small air freshener in my purse.
I want to learn how to make latte art.
I have never left my son with a teenage babysitter.
I do a happy dance when I get a package in the mail.
I have a home decor addiction.
I rather do the dishes than clean the bathroom.
I rather do the laundry than iron clothes.
I'm obsessed with organization.
I don't like gossip.
I don't watch TV.
I don't like bugs, but I tolerate them for the sake of my son.
I get excited about comments.
I know how to make homemade butter from fresh cow milk,
too bad that I don't have a cow.

I'm Thankful...
That I'm with my little family.
That I have my parents and siblings.
For our health, even though I and my son have asthma.
For our home.
Our vehicle, to get us where we need to go.
For everyday necessities water, air, food.
For work.
For my senses.
God's Mercy.
God's Love.
Graces
Blessings
You

I'm happy because...
We're alive!
I'm with my husband and son!
I'm going to see mom, dad and my siblings for Christmas.
Mr. M loves me.

I'm loving...
Jesus of course.
My precious dog.
The support I'm getting from Mr. M to blog:-)
The hugs and "I love you" from my son everyday.
The ideas coming to mind for crafts.
Warm and cozy with hubbie.
Warm drinks during this time of year.
Christmas decoration.
Thanksgiving!

I would love to have you join me for your own version of this post. Fill in the prompts as they fit you.
Then leave a comment with them or on your own blog and then link your post in the comment section of this post so others can visit.

Small Pleasures

Today I spent some time working in the garden,
weeding, removing dead flowers and prepping the ground for winter.
We still have some flowers
and believe it or not
a couple of butterflies still lingering around.

I stopped what I was doing and sat down for a minute,
to take it all in
the fresh crisp air
the clear blue sky
the rich colors of the remaining flowers
and behold,
a Black Swallowtail Butterfly.

I can tell that perhaps this was the last time
I was going to see it before the temperature cools.

I ran inside to get my camera
and
while I was photographing the Swallowtail
it remained gentle and calm as she gathered her nectar.
I noticed the details on her beautiful dark wings
and it made me think
that God is in the details,
and daily life is made up of the details.
Small pleasures are gifts of God that grease the wheels of life
refreshing us and reminding us of life's abundance.
Small pleasures say
"Pay Attention"
Life is a sacrament and everything is a gift from God.
My cup of coffee,
my flowers,
time with my family,
and that butterfly--
are all reminders of the wonders of creation.
It came to me that the miraculous often hides in the commonplace.

As Jean Webster puts it:
It isn't the big pleasures that count the most;
it's making a great deal out of the little ones.

Learning to be Unselfish

source:google

It's healthy for a married man or woman to pursue personal interests
and engage in individual activities,
hence me with my crafts/ blog/ shop; he with his mustache journey and other lively pursuits.
This provides an outlet, a sense of freedom and perhaps some exercise
--plus, it makes for a more interesting, well rounded spouse,
which keeps the conversation at home lively!
However, the level of your involvement in these pursuits
must be weighed carefully against the effect it will have on ones marriage.

I must consider my partner's needs as well as my own.
Time is a precious and limited resource that God has given to us as a couple.
My husband has a large stake in any decision we make
concerning how we will spend our hours,
because every choice has important ramifications for us both.
Not only can too much time apart erode the unity of a marriage,
it can deprive a spouse of legitimate needs such as time together,
help around the house, or break from the kids.

I have been thinking about my spouse's interests before chasing mine,
after all I was neglecting our time together.
Now we sit down with each other and analyze the pros and cons
of our commitments to any activity.
Sure, a relationship may benefit if one regularly enjoys some time to oneself;
we just have to remember to count the costs.
And make sure our mate gets equal personal time!

Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Our 12th Wedding Anniversary & DIY Rose Ice Cubes

Create these Rose Ice Cubes for a Special Occasion.
Visit Jonathan Fong Style for a list of what you will need and instructions on
how to make these beautiful and romantic ice cubes.

It is our 12th Wedding Anniversary and we are celebrating!
We look back on twelve years ago, when we stared in each other's eyes.
We repeated our vows, our hearts were soaring
We exchanged rings; we brushed each other's tears
We said "I do" and sealed our contract with a beautiful kiss.
And through the years, we have still stared into each other's eyes
We have laughed, we've cried,
We have disagreed, we have compromised, and we have made up
We have tried to never let the sun go down on our anger,
We have tried to remember the words uttered long ago and have tried to
 keep them fresh every day.
We have worked at it, and we have prevailed
We persisted, and we are victorious
And now, we stand here together,
to once again stare into each other's eyes
Repeating our vows, letting our hearts soar even higher.
Remembering the rings and what they mean,
Cherishing the tears,
saying I do again, and again and again.
And keeping our contract solid, and fresh, and beautiful.
With a Kiss.

I've Been Tagged

I have been tagged by Doris from "Organized Chaos" and she has listed a few questions for me to answer just to get to know me a little better.  The blogging world is fun and I love meeting new people.  My readers have great sites and I encourage many to go visit them.  Well here I go Doris:

What is one goal you’d like to accomplish during your lifetime?
My goal is a spiritual goal and that is to Live the life that God wants me to live.  He placed us in this world to love him and to serve him as his children.
"Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect" -Matthew 5:48
"This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you".- John 15:12

What household chore do you hate the most?
Mopping, it hurts my back, don't like it.  Cleaning the bathroom, especially the shower.

If you had one extra hour of free time a day, how would you use it?
I would use it to soak in the wonders of nature, the outdoors especially by the sea.

When you were in grade school, what did you want to be when you grew up? Why?
-I wanted to be a teacher (didn't have much patience for that)
-then an astronaut--did you know that when you go to outer space, your spine extends an inch longer? I wanted to get taller, weird me.  It goes back to normal once back on Earth though, (after learning all the tests that they have to under go, I changed my mind.)
-and a business owner, go figure.

If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?
This is a tough one, there are many, many things I want to do. I'll share two, spread the Word of God like wild fire for all to return to their creator.  Second,  "I'll be a bit selfish here",  I would compete in the Snowboarding Olympics and WIN!!!! Gold!  "I can dream too".

What odd item do you keep in your purse?
Small air freshener :-)

What is the weirdest gift you have ever received?
I don't think I've ever had a weird gift, I can't remember any.  If I remember I'll post it.

If you had to lose one of your five senses, which one of them would you prefer to lose and why.
Lets see, I don't want to lose any, but if I did, I would have to say smell.  I would miss out on many wonderful scents, but there are some I can do without.

That's all folks, hope you enjoyed my boring answers :-)
Here's a picture of my latest creations, not boring at all!
