Heart Shaped Waffles

heart shaped waffles

I love waffles and so does my family.  Unfortunately, I don't own a waffle maker.
It would be such a delight to have one and make homemade fluffy goodness for all to
enjoy.  Have you seen this Heart Shaped Waffle Maker?  I love the idea of a waffle
on a stick.  Do you own a particular kind of Heart Waffle Maker?  Do you like it?
I'm just wondering if maybe I should get one or stick to cookie cutters.

I'm preparing for Valentine's Day, by starting off the day with golden goodness.
Imagine the faces of your loved ones, when they step into the dining area and
laid out before them are these delicious, heart shaped waffles.
I remember last year when I surprised them with the pancakes and they were thrilled.
It's so much fun bringing a theme to a meal and sharing it with the family.

The way that I made these waffles, was super easy, the kids can make these
themselves.  All you need are frozen waffles sold in the breakfast frozen section
of your grocery store and a Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter.

Didn't I say easy?  Surprise your loved ones with a loving breakfast or
just have fun with the kiddos with the cookie cutter.  The ideas are endless,
make your kids heart shaped toast or sandwiches shaped in a heart and
stick a note with it; from mom with love.  Visit this post for more ideas.
They'll enjoy it!

Decorative Pink Magnets

These lovelies are my latest addition to my Shop with more to come.
I'll have greens coming as well as blues, so if you are not subscribed to the blog,
subscribe today to be the first to know when they are posted in the shop.
You  may also follow IbD on Facebook or Twitter for
Shop updates and special discounts.

I was inspired to create these after viewing bright candy
while walking around the old town of St. Augustine in FL,
I was inspired by the colorful and bright swirls that decorated the candies
with rich hues that interchanged from dark to light as if forming a jewel.

Every time I make these beautiful magnets, I can't help but admire them.
The glass is hand poured, they are round and vary in thickness.

I fell in love with these magnets when I made my first set.
They are just beautiful and they are unique in every way.
I use mine to hold several papers at a time including photos and cards.

I also wanted to remind you that we have these Letter Glass Push Pins available here.
They will be the last push pins for now and I won't make any more until after the summer.
Hope to see you at The Shop and wish you a Happy Weekend!

Valentine's Day Goody Bags

Today is the Valentine's Day party in my son's school.
I had to get several goody bags ready for his classmates.
I started laying out the chocolate and cookie dough,
(confession)  I bought the dough, I just added the chocolate, so it's semi-homemade.
Look at these beauties!  They are so vibrant and so tasty too! My son loved these swirls,
I think he ate a few before mixing it into the cookie dough.
I read over at Lemonade Makin Momma, that if you sprinkle a bit of sea salt
on the cookies, that they are out of this world, so I had to give it a try.
Wouldn't you know it, they are delicious! Gooey, sweetness!
Do you remember my son telling me that he wanted toys in the goody bags?
These are the little things he picked out; erasers, spikey balls,
and bracelets to go along with the cookies.
We added the cookies in a Valentine themed zip lock bag
and placed them inside these paper bags
along with cards and the little items above.
Then I took small doillies and clothes pins covered in red glitter
and pinned to the bags.
I've never done anything like this before,
so I was pretty pleased with them, not too shabby huh!

How to Make Heart Shaped Pancakes (Re-Post)

Heart Shaped Pancakes

...fluffy and golden

Heart Shaped Pancakes

On this cold, but bright and sunny morning, I decided to make a special Valentine's breakfast for my loving family.  Their first clue of what I had been preparing in the kitchen was a distinctive scent that drifted into the living room and filled the air with a soft warmth, a sensation of comfort and mouthwatering images of fluffy, warm goodness.

Their noses led them into the kitchen.  As both son and father scouted the area to see what it was that was waiting for them, they saw the thick, hot, golden savory ivory and pink curves, sitting on white china plate enhancing their coloring.  The mound of melted butter caught the morning light coming from the window, glittering and enticing them.

We smothered the pancakes with fruits, whipped cream and Red Raspberry Syrup and they were so delicious.

Heart Shaped Pancakes

I have made shaped pancakes before, just not colored them in pink. I started with the basic heart shaped pancakes and suddenly I had the idea to play with food coloring.  One thing led to another, then voila!  I had pink, golden and light red pancakes.

Instructions:

1) These pancakes are not difficult to make; all you need is your favorite pancake recipe, either from scratch or a pancake mix of your choice, but make sure the batter is not too watery.  You want this mix to be somewhat thick.

2) Put in a couple of drops of Liquid Red Food Coloring
into the batter until you reach your desired color, then mix.

3) Pre-heat the pan and place your Heart Pancake Molds or Heart Cookie Cutter
in the pan, and grease the mold over the pan to prevent sticking.

4) Pour the pancake batter into the Heart Pancake Molds or Heart Cookie Cutter
that is inside the pan.  Let them bubble a bit on low/ medium
heat until it sets.
Once you see the bubbles on the top of your pancake, remove the Heart Pancake Molds or Heart Cookie Cutter.  Remember that for cookie cutters you will need a tong, the cookie cutter will be hot.  Do not touch it with your hands.  At this point, flip the pancake over and cook the other side until lightly browned, the pancake is complete.

5) Repeat the steps above for more pancakes.
  Enjoy with your favorite toppings!

How to Make a Heart Wreath

How to Make a Heart Wreath
I love this little heart wreath!
The different shades of pink and red bring out each individual heart.

On this post, I have included two different Heart Wreaths that you can make yourself,
thanks to Better Homes & Gardens and Everything Etsy.

The first one I'd like to share with you is this Paper Heart Wreath.
To make this wreath follow the link or:

Get several shades of pink and red paper.
-Scissors
-Glue
-1 Cardboard or heavy stock paper
-Heart shaped template (ex: heart shaped cookie cutters)
-Circle template--you may use a paper plate

Trace paper plate over card stock or cardboard.
For the inner circle, use a smaller plate or large can/ jar whatever you have on hand,
trace the inner circle.
Once traced, cut the circle carefully.

Using a heart template, cut several hearts in different sizes.
Glue them around the circle,
To add interest, overlap several hearts.
Continue to glue hearts until the card board is completely covered.
Let dry and hang to your heart's content!

Here is the second wreath, a beautiful heart shaped wreath by Everything Etsy.
Pinned Image
Kim used felt to make this wreath.
You may use the same method as I used here by placing the felt
on a heart shaped foam.
Find her step by step tutorial here with great photos.
Enjoy &
Happy Crafting!
