Fall Flower Pot

Today I am sharing a makeover to my previous Message Flower Pot to give it a Fall look.

It is easy to make and I have checked everywhere to make sure it has not been done before.

What you will need for this little project:

• Craft Paint Brushes or Sponge Brushes
• orange Chalkboard Craft Paint
• flower pot
• pumpkin or fall leaf template
• tape
• Scissors
• flowers
• White Chalk

1. Cut out the interior of the pumpkin/ leaf template and cut the edges to the size of your planter.
2. Tape each corner of the template on the flower pot, make sure to use removable tape.

3. Take your paint brush & Paint, now paint the interior of the pumpkin so it comes out on 

your flower pots. Painting technique as seen on this post.

OPTION: You may also draw the pumpkin on the flower pot as seen above, 

you may use carbon paper to trace the pumpkin over the flower pot, then paint the pumpkin.

4. Let the chalkboard paint dry.

5. When the paint is dry, rub the painted pumpkin with a white chalk, then rub it off, this gives it a faint appearance.

6. Now you are set to write your message.

7. Put fall flowers in your pot and if you like, you may add burlap to give it a Fall feel.

Add pretty flowers!

Little Projects

After the busy month of places to be, things to do, people to see, it finally slowed down this summer in order for me to work on little projects.

My son and I re-vamped this clay flower pot for his cactus plant.  We used acrylic craft paint to paint the inside blue and the outside in white, giving it a two toned appearance.

After the paint dried, he applied glow in the dark paint on the outside surface. When the lights go out, it glows and for him that is an awesome effect. I have to admit, it really is!  I couldn't get a good photo in the dark to show you, but you get the idea.

I also finished another chalkboard project similar to the large chalkboard I made a few months back on this post and since then, have painted the frame white.  I have wanted a narrow chalkboard forever and with an extra piece of wood in the garage, I finally made one with my hub's help of course.

We used a flat wood board measuring about 14 x 47.5 inches.  I painted the board with chalkboard paint.

Mr.M cut the angles on the frame and nailed them together.  I then stained the frame and when it was dried, nailed it to the black board surface. The frame measures 15 x 48 inches.

Now all I have to do is make the frame look aged, I was inspired by this chalkboard.  I should have done that before mounting it, but oh well.
I will make it look like antique wood later on & will post about it, so stay tuned.

We added a little art on the board to add a summer feel to our patio.  This will be a 

great little board for seasons and holidays.

Flower Pot Makeover

This year I decided to plant lavender in a clay pot, but did not want the 

typical brick looking clay planter for the interior of the house.

So I dressed it up.  Here is what I did.

Supplies:

clay planter 

craft paint 

paint brush

spray paint

lace ribbon

and Mod Podge

I primed the clay pot with craft paint even though it didn't need it.

Then I painted the pot with a hammered affect spray paint, this gives it a sheen and hammered metal look.

After it dried, I brushed on Mod-Podge to stick two layers of lace ribbon on the planter.

I brushed the lace over the pot and brushed more Mod Podge.

When the glue was dry, I sprayed the entire planter to unify the look.

 Here is how it turned out, I love it!
This was super easy and may I add fast, not to mention all for only $8, can't beat that.

I added the lavender by filling the pot with gardening soil

and topping it with a sprinkle of organic bone meal.

Now it sits by a very sunny window.
